Sweet Greeters
Chris told me the other day that when I am out or have plans in the evening with one of my friends, the cats patiently wait for me on the top of our closet. I didn't really believe him, until he sent me this picture when I was out at the movies last week! His text was "Patiently waiting for Jessica to come home #spoiledrotten". I love that they wait for me, I love that they greet me at the door when I arrive home, I wonder if it has anything to do with the treats I give them daily?

The Middle
I have tried to post not once, not twice but three times this morning, and it's just not going to happen. I'm not sure what's going on with my blogger app, but it does not want me to share any pictures with you. This could be because I took all of two pictures on the weekend, one of boxes and one of a manniquin wearining a dress I thought my mom would like. Sherry from Young House Love always writes about the middle and how unappealing it is...well my friends, we're in the middle. We're packing the house and trying to prepare wedding invitations at the same time...this is definitely the middle and definitely not pretty! Our landloard requests to show the house every 2-3 days which means I have to move boxes to make the place look soemwhat presentable...I've told him this is no longer an option...we're in the middle! We will get there soon, in the meantime, my posting may be a bit variable...depending on what ole Blogger will allow me to share!
Yours in packing and inviting,
Jessica

Fab Find Friday: Vintage Soap Dish
I picked these guys up at an antique store a few weeks ago. They are old skimmers, but I think they would make lovely soap dishes! I haven't quite decided how I will do it, but that's half the fun:) On another note, these skimmers come with a bit of a story. The antique store I found them in, was one of those markets where each booth belongs to a different seller. The booth that I found these in had them listed at $4, a booth down the hall had the exact same ones listed for $9! It is always worth really looking around, and haggling when you don't think you've got the best price!
Happy Friday Everyone!

Wedding Wednesday: Thank You Bunting
Now that most of the big stuff is done for the wedding, I can start digging into some of the crafts and smaller details. As I believe I mentioned previously, I am going to be decorating with bunting and burlap. I have seen burlap banners all over pinterest and etsy, but knew I could recreate this myself very easily. I used Jennifer Leigh's tutorial here, and am very happy with the results. I lucked out earlier in the year when I found a great stencil set at the Dollarama for $2, and just used some leftover burlap and acrylic craft paint I had on hand! For next to nothing I created this thank you banner that we will probably use for thank you cards as well as a decor item at the reception!

Family Day
It's family day in Ontario, and although we have plans to be out and about later in the afternoon, this morning we're spending some quality time at home. In the midst of packing, cleaning, crafting and cooking, my breaks pretty much look like this...
Happy Monday!

Fab Find Friday: Coming Up Roses
In the spirit of Valentine's Day. I have this sweet vintage tin as this week's fab find! I picked this up a couple of weeks ago for $5. I love vintage tins and use them as storage boxes throughout my house. You can usually get a good deal at yard sales and flea markets if you're willing to dig through their box of miscellaneous tins! I loved the colours on this one, and loved that the sides of the tin were also decorated in a sweet floral pattern!
Happy Friday! The big news I had to share this week, is finally confirmed- Chris and I are homeowners! We purchased a sweet cottage style home that was built in 1865. It has everything I wanted in a house. We move in mid March, so you can expect this blog will have tons of house news and DIY projects!

Wedding Wednesday: Hair Pins
So I have been trying to beat the wedding system for some time now. I am convinced the mark up on most wedding related things is at least 100%. Case in point- hair pins. Normal hair pins will are tens of dollars (if that). "Wedding" hair pins are hundreds of dollars! This is just plain bonkers in my mind, hence my burning desire to beat the system. I decided that instead of buying fancy wedding hairpins, I would find vintage brooches that I could convert to a hairpin. This is the one I found a couple weekends ago for the low low price of $5.60! It had to come home with me.

Eye Candy
On the weekend I conveniently had to meet an Etsy vendor at the same plaza that houses an Anthropologie. To say I love this store is a complete understatement. If I had to furnish my house and my body with only one store, it would be this one. Here are some of my favourite things:
Monogrammed Pottery Mugs
Loved this cake stand, the pendants and all the colourful dishes
This was garland made with little circles of cotton and burlap...thought it would be a cute wedding DIY. Also loving the green couch in the background!

Fab Find Friday: Vintage Tin Wreath
Last weekend, we went to the Cookstown Antique Market. They're having a february sale, and every booth in the store is discounted. I lucked out with this sweet wreath below. It was in the Christmas section of one booth and was 80% off its original $19 price tag. I love the colours, and can't wait to find a place for it!
In other news, we had a snow day today. Being from the East Coast, I'm pretty used to a lot of snow, but this is definitely the most I've ever experienced in Ontario. Here is a view to our backyard, we've already shovelled 3 times and its still snowing!

Things I Love: Wine Barrel Cutting Board
When my girlfriend and I were in wine country just before the holidays, we stopped in at Thirty Bench. They had a lovely boutique in their store that carried these great cutting boards. They are the ends of wine barrels. and I just fell in love. They come with handles for serving trays or without for a true cutting board. I love how big and rustic looking they are!

Reality of the Situation
I made these muffins on Sunday morning for breakfast. They were healthy, yummy, and they turned out great, so of course I had to take a photo for my blog.
In the spirit of full disclosure, the reality of the situation is that most of my food photography sessions, actually look like this:

Boy-Cat is fully engaged in the process...he doesn't even like muffins (unless they're cat-nip infused)!
Happy Wednesday. I will have some very exciting news to share soon!

Wish I Was Here
We have had crazy weather this week, from -20 to +14 and everything in between. My week has been beyond hectic, so when I took a look at some of my summer moments, I remembered our family beach day on Parlee Beach, closed my eyes and wished I was there
Happy Weekend everyone!
